As you head towards retirement, all you want to look forward to are happy days.

But if there’s not enough cash in the bank, no big fat pension, and credit cards out of control, how do you plug into those happy days and overcome those retirement fears?

Here’s a five-point plan to start getting hold of your finances, your health, and your mindset, even if you are in the brown stuff.

So Tip 1 is to Create a budget and really find out where your money comes and goes.

The quicker the better.

This is the first and possibly most important initial step. You need to know how much money you have coming in and how much money you’re spending each month so that you can make sure what the true position is.

Now you CAN do your cash flow on the back of a final demand envelope with a bookmaker’s pen. But is that the right way?

There are many different budgeting methods available online now so I would suggest finding one that works for you and sticking to it. If you are watching this you know how to switch a phone or a computer on.
